Something a bit different on this job when we were tasked to remove four large Poplar trees which had a considerable amount of decay within them.
The trees were located near a building but also very close to a busy main road into the town. The trees needed dismantling, but in order to minimise disruption to road users we enlisted the help of Wallace Timber Services with their Grapple saw to assist in dismantling the trees.
To safely control the traffic we organised work permits and traffic management to allow us enough room to safely remove the trees.

The Grapple saw is a great way to quickly dismantle trees much more efficiently than traditional rigging techniques with a climber in the tree or from a cherry picker.
The tight drop zone and traffic management also meant we could not use a crane to lift out sections of the canopy which is one of our favourite options.

When working in tight traffic management while mechanically dismantling trees, it is crucial to quickly deal with material. To do this we utilised our 3 ton digger to feed branches into our Bandit chipper and removed the woodchip using our 23 ton hook-loader lorry.
Once stripped to stems we craned out the sections of timber over the fence and onto our Plant lorry. We picked up the small timber with our Grab Lorry.
