When Kettering Conference Centre, formally Kettering Leisure Village (KLV) had a problematic hedge they called Rose Tree for a solution.
The client required 150 meters of Hawthorn hedge to be reduced from 20ft to a more manageable 6ft.
This hedge had’t been pruned in years and with a avalanche of complaints from the neighbouring properties of trees spewing into their gardens and blocking light, the whole area had become a unmanageable mess.
Working on Hawthorn would usually be a tough job to do by hand as individual trees knit together making it near impossible to cut, handle and chip. With our digger mounted shear we reduced and stacked the hedge to a rough level in a few hours. We returned the next day to give a better hand-cut finish, chip the material and flail the brambles which had grown into the car park.
With vast amounts of waste this wasn’t a job for your average tree trimming crew with only a small van and chipper. Hawthorn is laborious to chip by hand thanks to its bushy branches and sharp thorns. As a well equipped contractor, we used two of our lorries and large chipper fed by our digger to quickly and efficiently dispatch the vast amounts of brash created by the tree shear.
We’ve done plenty of hedges like this in the past and after a few months they fluff back up into a beautiful maintainable hedgerow providing a key habitat corridor for wildlife.
